Document Approval

I'd like to see a feature whereby a document can be set to require approval. The designated approver(s) can either approve or reject the document with comments.

  2. Hi Sbirn,

I would suggest you use the Task list for this purpose. You can create your own rendition, but this is how we do it:

    1. Create a task list where your task to "approve" a document can be created.
    2. Create a task and color code it with a color that means "not approved". (you can use the colors however you wish. In fact, we are getting rid of the wording "urgency")
    3. If comments need to be made by the reviewer, they would do so on the Task in the comments section.
    4. Once it is approved, they can change the color of the task to reflect that OR they can just check it off.

Again, feel free to come up with your own method. We have tried to keep the product flexible so that you can create your own processes that fit your needs.

I hope this post at least gives you some ideas!

    Thanks for your comments...

That's a way to accomplish something indirectly, but it isn't as clear as what I was referring to. There is no way to know if a listed document is approved or not.

I came across this feature when looking at Huddle recently. It's not mandatory, but rather an additional option in addition to notification whereby you can set a list of specific people who must sign off before the document is listed as approved.

  4. Understood Steve; regarding the approvals. I will discuss this with my team and keep noodling on how we might be able to provide for this type of functionality while still keeping it simple. (tough balance!)

Also, when weighing your decision I wanted to give you a sneak peek into where we are going with things:

    1. We already have a great integration with Evernote.
    2. We are releasing our Outlook plug-in really soon. If you and your team are Outlook users this will be a huge convenience factor for you. It will sync your calendars initially and in the near future it will let you send messages from your Outlook that post directly in Pelotonics.
    3. In about three weeks we will have a great integration with Google Docs. Think Writeboards, but very robust and more broad of an offering.

We believe in providing our users with an umbrella of collaboration that extends into their existing personal productivity tools. I think that you will find this direction quite unique in the market.

Thanks for your great comments! We look to our users quite frequently for application enhancements and upgrades.
