Any way to enter old (historical) data?

Is there any way to enter historical data and make it look like it (or act like) was entered in the past?

I am just getting started with Pelotonics, but my project has been underway for several months. It would be nice to be able to see the entire project.

I know this can be a can of worms. You really don't want people changing the dates or the integrity of the chronological log gets compromised.

On the other hand, there may be some legitimate reasons (other than historical data) why the timestamp of a task, message, milestone, or update might be other than the current timestamp. For example, the Pelotonics data entry may lag the actual task assignments at times. I may have a development meeting and we decide on a lot of new tasks. If it takes me a few days to do the data entry into Pelotonics, the start dates would be wrong.

How about adding a new field for the timestamp when the entry was made? It would default to the current timestamp, but the person entering the data could override it.

It would also be useful for new users. They can simulate entering data over time and be able to see how their project will look. Otherwise, they have to have until time passes.

This is not a top priority request.

  2. More good points here Sarge. I will discuss this with Daniel, our head programmer and come up with some ideas that we will want to run by you. I agree, not high priority, but good none the less! Thanks for all your input...
