If we were creating and tracking "real" project plans each task would need to be broken down into its subcomponents where each subcomponent only had one participant.

But we're not. I'm happy (for now??) with the To-Do List being the major task and the tasks being the sub tasks.

However, that means that some subtasks while having a single person responsible for the task have a team of people participating in its execution.

It would be great to be able to identify a (single) responsible party and a number of participants associated with a task.

Thanks

It seems that time is only tracked at the Pelotonics' project level.

For some of my clients I have to track time against (Pelotonics') To-Do List or Task levels.

Is this in the future plans anywhere?

Thanks

It would be great to be able to link tasks together (i.e., B is dependent on A) and then to be able to sort the task list by dependency.

Hi, everyone,

I'm just getting into Pelotonics and am using the site for a couple of projects.

When a message is on the dashboard, it's just wonderful that I can hover the mouse over the subject line and see the contents. Brilliant!

But within a project, on the message tab, there doesn't seem to be a way to collapse the body content of messages so just the subject line shows. That would be a great feature!

In one project I collect press releases and other author information for the books I review. At any given time there may be 10 or 20 messages, sometimes LONG ones, and it's impossible to find the particular message on the page except by scrolling down and reading each subject line. I suppose I could do a search, but that seems cumbersome.

So--any possibility of collapsible messages? Best would be the ability to collapse and open individual messages on the page, but to make it easier (maybe?) a link to a page just listing the subject lines would be fine. I could click on the subject and go to the message I needed.

Thanks for a great product. What got me interested were (a) free file storage (something the competition doesn't seem to offer) and (b) integration with Evernote (which is fast becoming my main brain).

Cheerily,

Hey hey,

In the Evernote 'add' section, is it possible to add in multiple evernote files to the same message?

At the moment, I am adding one as message/task, then need to save it, add a second as message but copy the content and hit cancel so that file isn't unique message, navigate to original message, hit edit, then paste details of second file(canceled message) into first evernote message created. A little fiddly, and if there's a better way to do this that I've missed, I'd love to hear it!

Make sense?

ALSO - is it possible to reassign messages to different projects? Perhaps a symptom of a chaotic workflow, but if message A is created in project X, but it is better suited to project Y, is it necessary to copy/paste the message, delete the instance in project X, then create new instance in project Y by pasting content? Or is there a reassign possible?

I know I'm a ball of questions, thanks for your reply :)

Google Chrome users: There is a caching issue in Chrome that we have just become aware of. It is prohibiting the full load of web pages (as the browser reports it's waiting for cache). This is causing some issues in our application. As soon as Google fixes this issue, we will alert you.

For now the 2 resolutions are:

1. Clear your cache from Chrome and restart the browser.
2. Use a different browser, we recommend Firefox or Safari. IE7 is always an option though :)

Any way to have some type of logging on the system? Not a report, but a log of things going on behind the scenes?

I made a calendar entry (global) with a reminder 15 minutes before the task needs to take place and setup an email reminder as well.

Now, I'm the creator so apparently I don't receive the reminder, which I think is not right. I still want to get the reminders sent to me in an email. I also don't know whether or not they were even sent to the other team members. I don't want to always call people asking if they got something. I expect Pelo to take care of this stuff, not me and my phone :/ So far this product has been leaving me guessing more than I want to.

Hi, I am trying to drag a task from a private to-do list to another private to-do list and it doesn't seem to be working.

I am able to drag tasks part of public to-do list to other public lists though.

Is this a limitation or a bug? I would like to be able to drag tasks anywhere i please IE: from public to private and vice versa.

Reason for this is i would like to have a sort of Helpdesk/ticket system for public users (non-memebrs of my company) so they may open a task and I can then drag it to our internal list which will contain more updates and confidential information.

Also, any plans for a Helpdesk system solely for public users.

As usual we're solving the world's problems one step at a time. Here are a few of those steps.

1. On the Global Calendar, there is a agenda view now (which you can print too).

2. On the new Agenda View for the Global and Project level calendar's we added in a new filter, so you can just view 1 month if you want.

3. The payment system was only sending out invoices from the auto bill once every
30 days. Though if you upgrade and get charged money, you should get an invoice for that too... thus, I've fixed that now. Anytime the we process your credit card, you get an invoice through email.

4. The time stamp is on the messages now (it use to only be on the comments).

5. We totally redid the To-Do List Template section. We had a customer with over 100 To-Do List Templates and the page was loading slow. So I decided to redo the way the page works! You'll notice a sortable list like on the Projects Tab with all of your To-Do Lists and from there you can go in and edit one of them. This way it's a little easier to see which List you want to work on (thanks Carol for the suggestion on this).

6. Various minor bugs fixes (functional and GUI).

That's it for today!

I just saw the Demo of the iCal feed that's in development. It's hot!!! Not only are your Milestones and Tasks (that have a due dates on them) going to come over to your Calendar application, we have a full Calendar in Pelotonics with recurring appointments, and the whole 9 yards. Get ready for an iCal feed that is filled with kickassness.

Daniel Marashlian, M.Ed. <---- I love throwing that in every once and a while!

One of our customers was confused on how to active a completed Task.

So I felt that I should post this for everyone to see...

Answer:

On the TASKS tab, all of your To-Do Lists and active Tasks show up initially. We decided on Page Load to “hide” the completed tasks as it was adding a lot of clutter to the page if you had a lot of Tasks.

Thus we created a new filter on the Tasks pages. It’s called “Show Completed Tasks”. Just click on that link and all of your completed Tasks will show on the Page.

Watch this PeloCast for a video demonstration.

OK I've used a few different hosted solutions for project collaboration, and the biggest drawback common to any web app seems to be the load time for pages.

Pelotonics is great in that it doesn't seem to have a time-out, something that is brutally annoying if you're in the habit of writing, then get stuck on something, to come back and see that you've timed out and lost all content thus far created.

I realize that this is no trivial thing to contemplate, however one of the awesome usability features of Evernote is the desktop app that resides as an icon at startup, and remains a constant open window whilst I'm logged onto my PC (<Disclaimer> I've only been using Evernote for 3 days since finding Pelotonics, but it's already become indispensable to my workflow</Disclaimer>)

A dedicated window to an essential project collaboration tool, open for dedicated use, that syncs periodically with the service as opposed to window refreshes each <enter>, would enable faster processing for 'power users' and be a good jump in front of the current market offerings - or at least, last I used the others the feature was not offered.

I realize that this may be a long way away, it's just a thought :)

PS - the new Google released Native Client Platform which aims to enable browsers to access compiled code as opposed to scripting languages, is some pretty exciting stuff, yeah? Or is that just me...? :)

How about making the project summary available when actually creating the project? It's silly to make a project, then have to go into the admin tab, then select the project settings for specific projects, knowing it could be done when the project was actually created.

A quick link to edit the summary directly from the projects tab would be very useful instead of going through unnecessary steps in the admin tab in my opinion.

Hi, I am tryign to set permissions to users of a Company which is not the primary.

I have them set to have only messages and calendar however when i log in as the user they still have access to tasks and others.

Any ideas why permissions are not working for me?

Maybe I just haven't noticed it, but when I do the "Request Update" section of a task I'd love to see the fact that I [a] sent it, [b] who it was sent to [c] and how often they've been sent.

This way I would be able to document how many times updates have been requested on a particular project/task. This would be a great way to work our way down to having as few reminder updates as possible. Maybe it'll help us communicate a bit better :P

Anyways, just a thought. Since I'm sending out a request for update, I don't get a copy of it because I'm the manager, so how can I really prove one was sent when evaluating the project's overall status in Pelo?

A couple of quick questions:

1. Just signing up to test the beta program for our organization, and before we get started, I'd like to have some additional detail on the security of the site. I understand the privacy and permission settings, and I am referring to the security that protects files we upload and communications stored on the site.

I understand there is a difference between the security on the beta (unpaid) plan and the paid plans - but don't really know what the details are for each and how our information is protected. Could someone provide more information or point me to some details on this?

2. Is there functionality built-in to Pelotonics that will allow me to quickly export a project (saving the files/comments/lists/timetracking etc) to my network once it has been completed? Archiving still takes up project space, so I'd like to remove the project after completion from the site altogether (in a painless manner).

Similarly, can we import past projects again?

Thanks for your help!
Heather

Troy,

I talked with you about this on the phone but wanted to make it officially in the forums to post about it.

Just want to request that a "note-type" section be added so we can add details to the template notes.

For anyone else wondering what I'm talking about, here's a prime example:
-----
Say you're starting a project that requires you to build a Windows XP workstation.

You would be able to include a template that provides instructions from A-Z, but you might want to include some details. Like...what users to add to the system and what passwords to use; (you wouldn't want to line item each thing into a new task but since you can't add notes you don't really have a choice) or even how to configure the Proxy that Internet Explorer is supposed to use, etc., etc.

The template is a great way to get started but it's not going to be able to hold enough actual information outside of a general description. I like the Template idea, but I need to be able to add more details to the templated items.

Should I be able to drag a task from one to-do list to another with a Mac browser?

I can rearrange items within a list (though it's a bit sluggish), but if I try to drag a task from one list to another, I see a blue line randomly jumping around between items (often nowhere near where my cursor is) and then nothing happens when I drop the task.

Max OS 10.4.11
Same issue in both Safari 3.1.2 and Firefox 3.0.3

Is there anyone who would be interested in more reminders, aside from myself? :P

I'd love to have daily emails (or some equivalent) sent out for tasks instead of just having a single reminder date.

There are times when it would be nice to have a daily reminder sent out at a specified time or interval that reminds someone that they've got something urgent that needs to get resolved.

Emails get buried (as some of us can relate to) and if someone isn't staring at their dashboard all the time, a more constant reminder sent off and received on (say) a BlackBerry would be beneficial in our organization.

The request would be to expand the available options for reminder dates into something more frequent. Maybe even check boxes or something for 8 am, noon and 4 pm before the workday ends. Something like that anyway - I'm just throwing it out there :D

1. We redesigned the Banners throughout the site. (orange, gray, dark gray, red, etc...)
2. There was a minor UI bug not hiding the Upload button on the file upload modal.
3. The Request Update link on a task was showing up for Tasks assigned to "Everyone", it is now not showing in that situation.
4. There were issues importing a vCard (different programs create the vCards differently). Outlook, Yahoo, GMail, Address Book, and many others supported now.
