If we were creating and tracking "real" project plans each task would need to be broken down into its subcomponents where each subcomponent only had one participant.

But we're not. I'm happy (for now??) with the To-Do List being the major task and the tasks being the sub tasks.

However, that means that some subtasks while having a single person responsible for the task have a team of people participating in its execution.

It would be great to be able to identify a (single) responsible party and a number of participants associated with a task.

Thanks

It seems that time is only tracked at the Pelotonics' project level.

For some of my clients I have to track time against (Pelotonics') To-Do List or Task levels.

Is this in the future plans anywhere?

Thanks

It would be great to be able to link tasks together (i.e., B is dependent on A) and then to be able to sort the task list by dependency.

Hi, everyone,

I'm just getting into Pelotonics and am using the site for a couple of projects.

When a message is on the dashboard, it's just wonderful that I can hover the mouse over the subject line and see the contents. Brilliant!

But within a project, on the message tab, there doesn't seem to be a way to collapse the body content of messages so just the subject line shows. That would be a great feature!

In one project I collect press releases and other author information for the books I review. At any given time there may be 10 or 20 messages, sometimes LONG ones, and it's impossible to find the particular message on the page except by scrolling down and reading each subject line. I suppose I could do a search, but that seems cumbersome.

So--any possibility of collapsible messages? Best would be the ability to collapse and open individual messages on the page, but to make it easier (maybe?) a link to a page just listing the subject lines would be fine. I could click on the subject and go to the message I needed.

Thanks for a great product. What got me interested were (a) free file storage (something the competition doesn't seem to offer) and (b) integration with Evernote (which is fast becoming my main brain).

Any way to have some type of logging on the system? Not a report, but a log of things going on behind the scenes?

I made a calendar entry (global) with a reminder 15 minutes before the task needs to take place and setup an email reminder as well.

Now, I'm the creator so apparently I don't receive the reminder, which I think is not right. I still want to get the reminders sent to me in an email. I also don't know whether or not they were even sent to the other team members. I don't want to always call people asking if they got something. I expect Pelo to take care of this stuff, not me and my phone :/ So far this product has been leaving me guessing more than I want to.

OK I've used a few different hosted solutions for project collaboration, and the biggest drawback common to any web app seems to be the load time for pages.

Pelotonics is great in that it doesn't seem to have a time-out, something that is brutally annoying if you're in the habit of writing, then get stuck on something, to come back and see that you've timed out and lost all content thus far created.

I realize that this is no trivial thing to contemplate, however one of the awesome usability features of Evernote is the desktop app that resides as an icon at startup, and remains a constant open window whilst I'm logged onto my PC (<Disclaimer> I've only been using Evernote for 3 days since finding Pelotonics, but it's already become indispensable to my workflow</Disclaimer>)

A dedicated window to an essential project collaboration tool, open for dedicated use, that syncs periodically with the service as opposed to window refreshes each <enter>, would enable faster processing for 'power users' and be a good jump in front of the current market offerings - or at least, last I used the others the feature was not offered.

I realize that this may be a long way away, it's just a thought :)

PS - the new Google released Native Client Platform which aims to enable browsers to access compiled code as opposed to scripting languages, is some pretty exciting stuff, yeah? Or is that just me...? :)

Peace

How about making the project summary available when actually creating the project? It's silly to make a project, then have to go into the admin tab, then select the project settings for specific projects, knowing it could be done when the project was actually created.

A quick link to edit the summary directly from the projects tab would be very useful instead of going through unnecessary steps in the admin tab in my opinion.

Maybe I just haven't noticed it, but when I do the "Request Update" section of a task I'd love to see the fact that I [a] sent it, [b] who it was sent to [c] and how often they've been sent.

This way I would be able to document how many times updates have been requested on a particular project/task. This would be a great way to work our way down to having as few reminder updates as possible. Maybe it'll help us communicate a bit better :P

Anyways, just a thought. Since I'm sending out a request for update, I don't get a copy of it because I'm the manager, so how can I really prove one was sent when evaluating the project's overall status in Pelo?

Troy,

I talked with you about this on the phone but wanted to make it officially in the forums to post about it.

Just want to request that a "note-type" section be added so we can add details to the template notes.

For anyone else wondering what I'm talking about, here's a prime example:
-----
Say you're starting a project that requires you to build a Windows XP workstation.

You would be able to include a template that provides instructions from A-Z, but you might want to include some details. Like...what users to add to the system and what passwords to use; (you wouldn't want to line item each thing into a new task but since you can't add notes you don't really have a choice) or even how to configure the Proxy that Internet Explorer is supposed to use, etc., etc.

The template is a great way to get started but it's not going to be able to hold enough actual information outside of a general description. I like the Template idea, but I need to be able to add more details to the templated items.

Is there anyone who would be interested in more reminders, aside from myself? :P

I'd love to have daily emails (or some equivalent) sent out for tasks instead of just having a single reminder date.

There are times when it would be nice to have a daily reminder sent out at a specified time or interval that reminds someone that they've got something urgent that needs to get resolved.

Emails get buried (as some of us can relate to) and if someone isn't staring at their dashboard all the time, a more constant reminder sent off and received on (say) a BlackBerry would be beneficial in our organization.

The request would be to expand the available options for reminder dates into something more frequent. Maybe even check boxes or something for 8 am, noon and 4 pm before the workday ends. Something like that anyway - I'm just throwing it out there :D

Not sure if this is a feature yet, I don't see it in the docs.

It's a HUGE part of my work flow to bring up a text file in Huddle and view it then grab it and paste it into dreamweaver or Joomla. When working at a fast pace, there's little time for downloading, opening, etc.

Any chance this is in the works?

I've been using Basecamp for a few months, and overall it seems to suit our needs better than most of the alternatives I've seen.

I do like the fact that you seem to be more receptive to changes, so I am definitely open considering a switch.

My single biggest annoyance with Basecamp is something that unfortunately you copy as well. I really have a problem with sending passwords via email. What's the point of using SSL for access when the password is mailed to the user? Yes, I know you provide instructions on how to change it, but that assumes the user will do so. What if they don't?

To overcome this, all you need to do is send an initial password that MUST be changed, or even just send a one-time URL that brings them to a password set prompt.

Once you go that far, it would be nice to be able to see from an admin screen if they've set their password. If they don't get to it for a while, I may want to nag them or suspend the account to avoid someone else taking advantage of an open window.

Thanks.

Hi everyone & Pelotonics crew -

Thanks for the great work so far.

I'll be responsible for managing projects and in order to get some of the other team members motivated enough to check the progress by logging on to Pelotonics (rather than just asking, repeatedly...) there are a some fundamental things I'd like to see.

In order to at least try to keep on-topic within a thread ;) I'll stick to the Dashboard for now.

First, and this is really a global thing, it would be nice to let a user put the calendar at the bottom.

Functionally, though, my request here is that columns could be added and labeled; for example, "Assigned To" should be a column head and the date (I believe this is the date on which an entry was created) should be labeled as such. Also, there should be a due date column.

The ability to sort columns by would be very helpful, too.

Last, besides the standard breakdown of items listed by project, the option to combine all open items into a single listing so that -all- tasks can be sorted by due dates. Around here it's routine to have items filtering in with consecutive (or simultaneous) due dates from many different projects!

Thanks,
Andrew

It would be nice to see the availability to link the files to a To-Do list after they've already been uploaded. I could make a Task after-the-fact and then have the option to make that file part of a task.

This is handy for files that get uploaded but require an explanation of why you would use them. With the main Description on a file upload prompt, there's just a small 1-line section that makes it too difficult to read or edit.

But if you uploaded it and then decided you need/want to link them into a certain task or to-do list in your project, you could have them choose it from a drop-down - as a for-instance.

Hi

I've just started using Pelotonics and my team are evaluating its use right now. So far all is good, but... a couple of points:

First, is there a way to alter the date formats? The system uses the US-standard (mm/dd/yyyy). We're in Australia and I'm originally from the UK where the format is always dd/mm/yyyy. A small point, but it's tricky to 'read'.

Second, I couldn't find any way of telling the system which time zone is required. As a result, our 'timings' are out of whack. Here in Melbourne we're currently +11hrs ahead of GMT or +16hrs ahead of US EST.

Lastly, the company information requires a 5-digit postal (zip) code. But here in Australia, we only use 4 (in the UK, it's like Canada where there are usually 6 or 7 characters).

Chris.

I first posted this in the wrong area... so I'll try again (I'm sure the forum manager can clean up my booboo--sorry!)

But I'm trying out Pelotonics right now, and it's proving EXTREMELY useful. I really appreciate the project-specific contact lists especially--that is SO helpful for me.

Big problem--where is the Global Calendar?

It would be so helpful if I could see ALL of the project deadlines in one spot. If you're like me, you're working on a couple of things at a time, so it's really vital to see when EVERYTHING comes due and to balance your time accordingly...

But yes, there should be a global calendar that combines all deadlines for all projects.

This is a significant weakness of the Time Tracking function:

I am the Project Manager for my company. Non-Admins that are on my team cannot edit or even SEE their own time! They can only enter it, and then it disappears for them.

The possible workaround of making EVERYONE an Admin is dangerous; it would give them far too many privileges over everyone's time.

Help...

I think a wiki for each project wold be a very good addition - it would allow for more collaboration and would be a good place for project notes.

I currently use Remember the Milk for task management, almost entirely because it has a great gmail plugin (and the majority of my tasks come in through email, so RTM is extremely convenient in that regard). However, RTM is somewhat difficult to work with when it comes to organizing tasks and viewing projects. It would be nice if Pelotonics offered some integration with gmail as well.

I think it would be a great idea to be able to see more than just on month at a time on the calendar. Maybe a button that would enable the user to select between 1, 3, 6 and 12 month views, for those of us who like to see what coming down the pipes well in advance!

Thanks!
