1. When reviewing your checked off tasks, it now tells you who checked the task off. Kind of an audit trail ;)

2. On the Task Report (the link in the sub-navigation on the Dashboard), you can now add/review your Task Comments/Files.

I just got an email from a new user asking why we have not been using the forums lately! That's a great question. I would hope that it would not raise any eyebrows, but it has and we need to let you know why. For better or for worse, we have been conducting a large number of conversations in a one-on-one manner via email. This is Heavy on customer service, but light on community development.

So, we intend to change that and make sure that we are posting everything to the forums for everyone to benefit from! Thanks to everyone for helping to make Pelotonics a successful product.

maxhansen on "Task Due Dates within To-do Templates"

I'd like to be able to put due dates on the tasks in a to-do list template. Here's the situation: A quasi-governmental process has a series of public meetings. For each meeting, many briefing documents have to be prepared and published a set number of days ahead. Each doc has to follow the same path to publication: Authoring, Staff-Review, Rewrite-1, Editor-Review, Rewrite-2, DTP, Publish-to-web. A perfect candidate for a template, from which we can create one to-do list per document. The tasks are sequential, and the due date for Authoring is the same for all the documents for a given meeting, and the due date for Staff-Review is 4 days later, etc. So, if dates were part of tasks within templates, we could simply modify a template, inserting the dates that apply to a particular meeting. Then that template could be used to create the workflow (to-do list) for each document for that meeting. For the next meeting, we'd modify the template, inserting a new sequence of dates, and use it for the many documents for that meeting.

We've been working the Google Apps team for the past 6 months making sure that the deep integration we wanted to do with Google Docs could happen! After having a select few in the Beta Program, we are pushing it out to all of our users!

Please see the documentation on the integration (more videos are being worked on for examples) at: http://www.pelotonics.com/Google.html

Thank you everyone that was in the Beta program!

And of course let us know what you think! We've been using the integration here at Pelotonics for the past 2 months and it rocks! It's helped out in so many ways I can't even begin to explain them all...

For many of you the Message Reply Program wouldn't work sometimes. This had to do with HTML standards (or lack there of) from all of the different email clients. Thus to solve the problem, we decided to read in the plain text version of the email rather than the HTML version.

This should guarantee that the message will always be in there and the Message Reply Program should work as expected (stripping out all HTML formatting from the messages).

We're new to PELOWORKS.
One of our biggest challenges to date has been scheduling meetings among 4-6 team members. We then have to coordinate asnd schedule with others that are not part of the project team. It took 15 emails to schedule our latest meeting. Is there a best practices regarding how Pelotonics users handle this ? Is there a online scheduling service that anyone can recommend. thx

Hi, it'd be great if there was a simpler way to add new tasks quickly upon login.
Right now I have to select a project, then select the Tasks tab, then go to a To-do list and then click the tiny "New Task" link.

2 ideas for easy ways:
1 - On calendar, have another button next to the "+" (currently adds appointment) which adds a task defaulted to the selected date.
2 - On the Project Summary page, add another "Quick Add" link

The "To-Do list", Project, etc fields could all be edited by drop down lists on the task form.
Adding these drop down lists would address another useful thing - the ability to move tasks between To-Do lists and Projects without deleting and re-adding!

It's important for us that it's easy to quickly add a new task after a discussion or meeting.

Thanks for listening, really enjoying using the product!

Did I request an update? Who did I sent this comment to?

I think it would be valuable to be able to answer these questions from some kind of audit trail on tasks/comments.

Maybe, these could just be system generated comments, that protocol the update request / e-mail list.

We released Pelotonics in the .NET 3.5 framework last night. We've been wanting to do this for a while now, and now that we're in 3.5 we'll be able to move forward on more initiatives that we have in store.

Also, we've taken an eye towards keeping your data more secure. While we've always stored your passwords and credit card information in an encrypted format, sometimes when using or changing your password, the SSL channel wasn't turned on. Thus the data was being transmitted as plain text over the wire. We've recently revisted our secuity standards in Pelotonics and gave them a boost in the arm!

No more passwords in emails or non encrypted pages where your password gets used! We're also working on a security page for www.pelotonics.com where you can review our security standards, get suggestions from us on how best to use Pelotonics in a secure way, and a method for contacting us in case you want to send us an urgent or sensitive report directly.

Are you using the same search algorithm as Evernote, or did you develop on your own?

Hi Everyone,

Today, we've made a huge step in the right direction in giving you a better Dashboard! This is just the start of it. Later next week, each user will be able to customize the dashboard to the way they want it, and have more relevant data to make the Pelotonics Dashboard a place of true value within the application.

In step one of this transformation, we had to lay out some major changes in the foundation in how the dashboard works!

1. We moved the Global Calendar to its own tab "Calendar" on the Dashboard level.
2. We removed the Reports tab, and pushed the Time Report and Task Report to their own pages, though they're linked off of the sub-navigation from the Dashboard.
3. The people tab on the dashboard is available to everyone now (we made sure to keep the permissions in tact though. A simple user will only see the contacts that they could normally see in the projects they're involved with)

Now that this is done, we're going to be starting to create the modules for the dashboard that you'll be able to customize on your personal dashboard. If you only want the activity feed and late deliverables, than just choose those 2. But if you want a 1 week view on the global calendar, the task report, a time overview and the latest activity feed. Then choose them all!

Email us, call us, or write on the forums if you have any suggestions on how to make the Dashboard better for "you"!

It would be very helpful for us if on the Project Summary Page we could have a text box to add some project summary information. For example, each of our projects is a customer inquiry. We need a place to put the inquiry details and specifications. These would be updated from time to time as the project progresses - but we need somewhere to keep the project specs in front of the group. The summary page seems like the most obvious. Otherwise we we can only highlight the details in messages - but it means we're looking back all the time to find the info we need.

Hi, I've been using Pelotonics for a couple months now, and I am a big fan--even becoming an evangelist within my organization. I started by migrating my Basecamp projects to Pelotonics to take advantage of to the Evernote support.

One little feature on Basecamp that I have been missing is the ability to post comments on Milestones. I was using this feature on Basecamp to solicit input for meeting agendas with my team. On Pelotonics I have been using Messages for this purpose, but it is inconvenient to navigate to the Messages tab to comment on something that you are viewing in the Calendar.

This feature request should apply to Calendar items at a minimum, but it would be great to have the ability to comment on both Milestones and Calendar items.

lj764 on "Creating tasks and Milestones from Evernote"

Hi there!

One of the great features of Evernote is the easiness with which you can create these notes from any device. Get an idea, create a 'Voice Note'. See something interesting, take a 'Snapshot'. etc. etc. Very easy!

Need to create a task/message/file? Go to Pelowork. Goto Evernote tab. Select a note. Define the type in Pelowork. Import...

While not really a problem, it may be one step too much. Competing task managers (the good ones) synchronise the above mentioned 'notes' into tasks and ToDos from the mobile devices.

I would like to see a possibility to create tasks and todo lists right from Evernote. The idea is to use 'tags' on the notes, to create the right items.

An Evernote tag containing an exact match of a 'Pelowork Milestone' creates a Todo list
An Evernote tag containing an exact match of a
'ToDo' list creates a task. (if the note contains itself an Evernote ToDo list, it creates a task for every Evernote todo item)

Imagine that Pekowork would be able to run these imports in the background, while you are not logged in. Getting back to Pelotonics would already have created all tasks, etc...

Wouldn't it be great to have the two applications behave as one?

Feature request:
Add ability to link to a previously-uploaded document within a new Comment.

Background:
I created a task list to delegate portions of a project to several individual team members. Each team member was responsible for certain line items on a list of tasks that was sent from a client. Each Task item in Pelotonics indicated which line items the member was responsible for (i.e. "Review Items 1, 2 & 3 on the attached list"). In order to provide a quick reference to the document, I created a comment on each task to provide a link to the document. I could not find a way to do this, other than uploading the same document repetitively for each comment. I would like to have had the ability to upload it once, and then link to the previously-uploaded document in the subsequent comments.

Thanks,

It would be great if you could create a Project Template which would have the same milestones, folders, tasks etc. beneath it. We have a lot of projects where we do a set number of things and produce the same types of files. Only the project manager, contacts and dates are different.

While trying to figure out on how to best deploy and use Pelotonics for a customer of mine not used to GTD and/or project management, I realized that Pelowork addresses quite a few needs of ‘group productivity’.

Sketching the processes around Pelowork for this customer, it came to my mind that the individual contributors (Contacts) were well served in group activities, but had no ‘personal’ store to organize themselves.

My thought is the following:

On a personal level, I use MY tools to get things done, when in the group context, I use Pelotonics. In my specific case, the personal tool is OmniFocus on the iphone and on my Mac. I also use Evernote, but to what I believe is its prime functionality, remembering stuff. A voice note regarding a task goes into OmniFocus. A photo of whatever will become a task, goes into OmniFocus. White board pictures go into Evernote, get OCRed (thanks guys), and go into OmniFocus if necessary.

Now, having played a bit with the integration of Evernote and Pelotonics, I think that the combination of the two products could do all of the above, task related information (Due dates and so forth), and a great way of searching for data (OCR and Co.). If only I could store that information in my ‘personal’ store, nothing to do with the ongoing group activities.

My suggestion / feature request is:

Have a tab at Contact level for storing ToDo Lists and tasks. I would use the ToDo list as a ‘context’, the tasks as tasks, easily imported from my Evernote or created from within Pelotonics. No more need to switch environments, all in Pelotonics. No being bound to a pure Mac tool (fine with me!!, wrong with my 90% Windows customers), using Pelotonics and Evernote on all platforms.

Having read Troy’s infoenza and knowing that the ‘Peloton’ idea grew out of personal GTD, this may seem as a ‘back to the roots’. Nevertheless, I think it’s worth a thought.

I do have a customer currently, that has 40 people involved in ‘group activities’. I imagine that a 1GB store per person would be enough. Looking at your Platinum price tag for 50GB, this may translate into a $2.5 fee/person/month. A bargain! Make that the same price of $5 a month as Evernote premium, and ...

I was wondering if there is anybody else sharing / supporting the same idea / request?
