1. When reviewing your checked off tasks, it now tells you who checked the task off. Kind of an audit trail ;)

2. On the Task Report (the link in the sub-navigation on the Dashboard), you can now add/review your Task Comments/Files.

I just got an email from a new user asking why we have not been using the forums lately! That's a great question. I would hope that it would not raise any eyebrows, but it has and we need to let you know why. For better or for worse, we have been conducting a large number of conversations in a one-on-one manner via email. This is Heavy on customer service, but light on community development.

So, we intend to change that and make sure that we are posting everything to the forums for everyone to benefit from! Thanks to everyone for helping to make Pelotonics a successful product.

I'd like to be able to put due dates on the tasks in a to-do list template. Here's the situation: A quasi-governmental process has a series of public meetings. For each meeting, many briefing documents have to be prepared and published a set number of days ahead. Each doc has to follow the same path to publication: Authoring, Staff-Review, Rewrite-1, Editor-Review, Rewrite-2, DTP, Publish-to-web. A perfect candidate for a template, from which we can create one to-do list per document. The tasks are sequential, and the due date for Authoring is the same for all the documents for a given meeting, and the due date for Staff-Review is 4 days later, etc. So, if dates were part of tasks within templates, we could simply modify a template, inserting the dates that apply to a particular meeting. Then that template could be used to create the workflow (to-do list) for each document for that meeting. For the next meeting, we'd modify the template, inserting a new sequence of dates, and use it for the many documents for that meeting.

For many of you the Message Reply Program wouldn't work sometimes. This had to do with HTML standards (or lack there of) from all of the different email clients. Thus to solve the problem, we decided to read in the plain text version of the email rather than the HTML version.

This should guarantee that the message will always be in there and the Message Reply Program should work as expected (stripping out all HTML formatting from the messages).

We've been working the Google Apps team for the past 6 months making sure that the deep integration we wanted to do with Google Docs could happen! After having a select few in the Beta Program, we are pushing it out to all of our users!

Please see the documentation on the integration (more videos are being worked on for examples) at: http://www.pelotonics.com/Google.html

Thank you everyone that was in the Beta program!

And of course let us know what you think! We've been using the integration here at Pelotonics for the past 2 months and it rocks! It's helped out in so many ways I can't even begin to explain them all...

One of our biggest challenges to date has been scheduling meetings among 4-6 team members. We then have to coordinate asnd schedule with others that are not part of the project team. It took 15 emails to schedule our latest meeting. Is there a best practices regarding how Pelotonics users handle this ? Is there a online scheduling service that anyone can recommend. thx

Hi guys, any response on this idea?
Usage of Pelotonics is really dropping off in my team due to the difficulty for each individual in quickly & simply managing their tasks. It'd be great if you guys could look at the possibility of addressing this with the above in mind to streamline the process.

One more small thing is that it's a bit odd that you need to in effect click twice on a task to edit it - once to expand, then again on the (tiny) edit link. It's just not intuitive to add & edit tasks at the moment.

Did I request an update? Who did I sent this comment to?

I think it would be valuable to be able to answer these questions from some kind of audit trail on tasks/comments.

Maybe, these could just be system generated comments, that protocol the update request / e-mail list.

We released Pelotonics in the .NET 3.5 framework last night. We've been wanting to do this for a while now, and now that we're in 3.5 we'll be able to move forward on more initiatives that we have in store.

Also, we've taken an eye towards keeping your data more secure. While we've always stored your passwords and credit card information in an encrypted format, sometimes when using or changing your password, the SSL channel wasn't turned on. Thus the data was being transmitted as plain text over the wire. We've recently revisted our secuity standards in Pelotonics and gave them a boost in the arm!

No more passwords in emails or non encrypted pages where your password gets used! We're also working on a security page for www.pelotonics.com where you can review our security standards, get suggestions from us on how best to use Pelotonics in a secure way, and a method for contacting us in case you want to send us an urgent or sensitive report directly.

A prefix to project names is ok for the techies amongst us, and this would sort the lister, but not filter it. In larger environments, people might not really be interested in ALL projects, but just the ones their department is running, or where they are perceived as the 'sponsor'.

Not a crucial thing at this moment in time, but should you ever have some 'spare time', please add a way of grouping and filetering.

Something that comes to mind is the ability to group your projects through their statuses. You can set your own status and then sort them on the Projects tab to show them together. If that doesn't work, you could append a special character to the front of every project name that belongs to a group and sort them on the Projects tab that way.

What are you thinking??

Hi there,

sorry for being somewhat late.

After investigating a bit more, I believe that the facts are the following:

When filtering 'All Notebooks' in Evernote with a single 'search word', and when selecting the 'Notes by Date Created', I get a result in my specific case of 23 notes.

Filtering with the same 'search word' in Pelotonics returns a result of 19 notes. The sort order is somewhat different though. It is by 'Notebook', and then by 'Notes by Date Created'.

The list within a Notebook is only giving the 10 first entries, not showing any further notes. Selecting the 'View this Notebook Only' and then filtering with the same 'search word' again, gives ALL notes within that notebook and matches the correct number of notes found in Evernote (for Mac).

It seems to me, that the sort order / number of entries shown is the problem.

Hope this helps...

with best regards,

so far, the changes under the hood did not lead to any issues. Usage of the dashboard is as stable and straightforward as expected.

Hi Everyone,

Today, we've made a huge step in the right direction in giving you a better Dashboard! This is just the start of it. Later next week, each user will be able to customize the dashboard to the way they want it, and have more relevant data to make the Pelotonics Dashboard a place of true value within the application.

In step one of this transformation, we had to lay out some major changes in the foundation in how the dashboard works!

1. We moved the Global Calendar to its own tab "Calendar" on the Dashboard level.
2. We removed the Reports tab, and pushed the Time Report and Task Report to their own pages, though they're linked off of the sub-navigation from the Dashboard.
3. The people tab on the dashboard is available to everyone now (we made sure to keep the permissions in tact though. A simple user will only see the contacts that they could normally see in the projects they're involved with)

Now that this is done, we're going to be starting to create the modules for the dashboard that you'll be able to customize on your personal dashboard. If you only want the activity feed and late deliverables, than just choose those 2. But if you want a 1 week view on the global calendar, the task report, a time overview and the latest activity feed. Then choose them all!

Email us, call us, or write on the forums if you have any suggestions on how to make the Dashboard better for "you"!

Daniel

The second issue we are having is that we can't view graphic files and pdf's in a message window (like we can in outlook or mac mail for example). We can attach them - but then every time we need to view the file we have to download it and open the file. It would be much nicer if we had some kind of view of the doc so we knew for sure we had the right file before we went to all that work.

Right, I've done this... It's just that you can't see this on the project summary page. You have to go to the project settings to view it. When we try and view it on the main projects page the amount of info we have to put there is too large for the small pop up window.

Hi Ross,

Currently, the only way to do this is if an Admin of your Pelotonics Site goes to the project settings page for that project and updates the project status.

This will show on the Project Summary page as well as if you mouse over that project on the projects tab.

Right now, only admins can modify that message, though we're going to be pushing the input of the "quick status update" to the summary page for anyone in that project to update it.

It would be very helpful for us if on the Project Summary Page we could have a text box to add some project summary information. For example, each of our projects is a customer inquiry. We need a place to put the inquiry details and specifications. These would be updated from time to time as the project progresses - but we need somewhere to keep the project specs in front of the group. The summary page seems like the most obvious. Otherwise we we can only highlight the details in messages - but it means we're looking back all the time to find the info we need.

If you have the Skype Firefox plugin, Pelotonics will not work as intended. I've been looking around the internet for a solution on this, and it seems to be a bug within the Skype Firefox plugin.

This bug effects many popular sites such as, Facebook, GoogleApps, and may more.

Make sure to disable the Skype Firefox plugin if you're using Pelotonics with the Firefox browser.

That is very interesting... if you wouldn't mind, email support [at] pelotonics [dot] com your XML file and I'll make sure that it get's imported.

The 37 signals team might have changed the format of their XML structure, so I'll have to double check it from your file.

I'm trying to import an XML file from Basecamp. There are more than one project on my Basecamp account. I have created several "fresh" Pelotonics accounts in order to do the import. No matter what I do I do not get detailed tasks through on the import. I have edited the XML file and deleted all projects being left with one project only, still... no detailed tasks.

Please advise.

HI Patrick,

That is odd... as Troy said, we're using the API from Evernote. Could you give me an example that I can test on?

Also, I'll ask the Evernote folks, and see what they say

Very interesting Patrick. We are using the API for search so that is a bit wierd! We will look into it and figure out why there is a disconnect.

Thanks for letting us know.

Hi there!

Searching Evernote notes in Evernote itself return a different set of notes, as when searched in Pelotonics.

Are you using the same search algorithm as Evernote, or did you develop on your own?

Results should be exactly the same. Not sure whether this is dealt with through the Evernote API

With best regards,

Brendan,

I value both of your ideas.

I would locate your idea 2 on the dashboard, the very first screen when you login. The idea of moving tasks between projects / milestones should be kept anyway.

cheers,

Hi, it'd be quite useful if the Task title appeared in the reminder emails that are received when a task is overdue or hits the reminder date.
You can see at a glance which tasks are due if several come through together.

Cheers!
